As October is fast approaching it’s time to start preparing my Hollyween decorations for the “Great Hollyween Yard Sale!”. You may or may not know this about me , I’m a Halloween fan , not just an ordinary Halloween fan, a FANATIC!
Yes, my love of all things Halloween goes way back and I have prepared a future post chronicling the whole story of my love of that glorious holiday. This is just a quick post to tell of the start of my pre-moving Halloween purge! I’m not planning to ship all this to Panama, I’m pretty sure Boquete isn’t ready for the likes of The Hollyween Extravaganza ! We shall be retiring from such elaborate party hosting . I can hear the collective sigh of relief coming from our future neighbors!π
On Saturday Scott and I got my whole collection down from the attic . We then emptied the contents of about thirty or so boxes onto our back patio. Whew! π. It looks like Halloween threw up on my patio!!! It’s literally covered in every Halloween decoration you can possibly imagine. Sooooooo time to make a few texts to some friends who wanted a preview before the actual yard sale…….
In just two days I had five girlfriends over and sold $1,000.00 worth of decorations! And believe it or not, it only made a small dent in my collection! So I’m off to a pretty good start . Selling my collection is bittersweet but I’m so committed to our new life plan . And honestly, after our last party , nearly 200 people, we were pretty burnt out and exhausted. It was lots of fun and I have incredible memories but it’s time to move on. I’ve had many, many friends begging me to have,”just one last party!” , and as tempting as it is to have a going away party, we just don’t have it in us. No, it’s Bye ,Bye, to that part of our life and so my collection of bats, spiders, pumpkins, goblins, ghouls witches and skeletons are slowly finding new homes! The great Hollyween Purge has begun and there’s no stopping me now!!! Just another part of the march towards The Big Adventure!
That is scary looking stuff. Good luck with all of that–Looks like you’ve got a good start!
Oh, yes! I’ve gotten a very good start! It does feel good to release some of my accumulation !Its beginning to look less and less spooky around here!
Years ago in Costa Rica I would buy orange/red/yelllow/white modeling clay and sculpt faces on gourds, calabash or winter squash! I’ve now weaned away from halloweeen, but it was fun! Z
Fun is what Halloween is all about! I’ll have to be on the look out for gourds to carve and sculpture is my medium so I look forward to creating some Hollyween fun in Boquete ! Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
OMG!!! I have never known one to have such a collection of Halloween decorations. You guys are incredibly crazy fun. I’m so sorry I missed this era of yours. But pooped in doing it again I can so understand. I’m really looking forward now to the blog about how your love of this all began. I sure hope we can one day be a guest of yours in Panama after you’re all very settled in. I would love to spend time with you both in youy new homeland. Missed you today at the shop. π
Thanks Jeri! I do hope you’ll visit us, I’ll look forward to it! π
I bet you can use one or two of these for Day of the Dead celebrations!
True, I have a very special stash of my fav’s ! Don’t worry, I’m not going completely cold turkey!π³
We are thinking about moving to Boquete in the future, 5-8yrs away, but sell all my “Witches Tea” stuff?!?!?! I don’t have quite 30 boxes of stuff, but all the costumes I’ve made and different hats..
Oh, my gosh I forgot I have to purge all my Halloween stuff, and we won’t even think of all the frogs and Dept 56 witches. I can don’t this. I THINK I CAN.. I KNOW I CAN.. I CAN, JUST NOT THIS YEAR. MY GRAND BABY IS ONLY 9 they don’t have rum for all my toys to be given to them. Lol
