The countdown to our move is marching onward ! Time is truly flying by faster than I can believe! There’s only 115 days until February 1! We have loosely set February/March as our goal to list the house for sale and I must admit that seems awfully quick! Scott is making great progress on all the finish work in the house.
He did an exceptional job on the walkway to the front door. It turned out more beautiful than I could have hoped. All that research he did and the trial runs really paid off. The bookcase and fireplace in the master suite is completed as well as the master closet, as you know. There are some little finishing touches that he is currently working on. The last thing to do in our master is the cabinetry in the bathroom. He already built and stained the face frame and the drawers are being installed this week , the doors and drawer fronts are nearly ready to be installed. Yesterday I emptied the bathroom out and all the major work should be completed this week. The last thing to finish in the master bedroom is the base boards.
As Scott has been tackling the completion of the house I have been addressing all our stuff. This past weekend I finished selling off all the Hollyween decor! Whew! That was quite a feat, but it feels so good to have it done. Another bittersweet change. I have two empty bedrooms in my house so I have been using one room for all the stuff I plan to sell in a yard sale and the other room is a place for things I can begin to pack away for taking with us. We still have to empty the attic and the basement but I’d like to get a bit more control over what’s currently right in front of me before I start pulling stuff out of all the nooks & crannies! Let’s hope the “yard sale” room gets much more filled up than the “take with us” room!
The remaining work on the house includes the kitchen drawer fronts and door fronts, the dining room has built in cabinetry and buffet and a pantry in the kitchen , the family room has a built in entertainment center to be built out as well as some window trim. Then the baseboards throughout need to be installed . All the interior doors need painting and hardware . The exterior paint needs to be done, but we are not quite in agreement about painting the rest of the interior. I think my color choices will not appeal to the masses because they are very bold colors that suit me , not likely everyone else. Scott thinks that the colors really highlight the architecture of the house. He’s right, I don’t think that it should be all white but muted colors would surely appeal to more potential buyers. The last big project will be the backyard. After several trips to the dump landscaping will commence .
In between kayaking, golfing and sailing ( we will be sailing in the SF bay this weekend), we feel good about the progress we’re making . There is quite a bit yet to accomplish before we’re ready to go but we are both attempting to hold onto our sanity which requires working in time for FUN😃! Life unfolds as it should no matter what we do but attempting to maintain a healthy balance as we work and sweat towards our goal is where we find our peace and how we keep the smiles on our faces ! 😄😊😃
