A Very Familiar Feeling…

Standard

The house is nearly empty

I remember when Scott and Mariah and me were living in our 500 square foot cottage in the back of our property while we built our house. How could I forget, right? The three of us and two indoor cats stuffed into 500 square feet for 2 years, yikes! By the time the house was at the very least , air tight and water tight, I was itchin’ to get back in there ASAP! I didn’t care that most of the house was only plywood subfloor , and there were no cabinets ( boy, was that a mistake to let him get side tracked before our project was completed! ) I just wanted to move in soooooo badly. Now, fast forward about 8 or 9 years later and I just can’t wait to get moved OUT! My this is a very familiar feeling , indeed.

One Beautiful Master Bathroom DONE! Yep, DONE!

Standard

It’s so beautiful! For those of you who haven’t been to our house, there has not been any finished cabinetry anywhere since we moved back in about five years ago. Not because Scott was being lazy, noooo, but because he was busy remodeling other people’s houses. It just wasn’t possible for us to survive on one income while he devoted his time to finishing our house. Now that we are sprinting to the finish line we are making it work by the skin of our teeth. When Scott and I set our sights on a goal we may run into a snag now and then or we may be faced with the necessity of a detour of some sort, but we get to where we want to go eventually in spite of how difficult it may be. So every time we reach another milestone I rejoice! This master bath completion.. Is cause for rejoicing!!! I have 16 drawers in that delicious bathroom! And actual cabinet doors, with handles!! It’s amazing how much you appreciate little things like drawers! More than appreciating the joy of cabinetry, I’m massively proud of Scott and the meticulous workmanship that goes into the cabinetry that he is custom designing and producing himself. He is my Renaissance man!

Progress Report!

Standard

The countdown to our move is marching onward ! Time is truly flying by faster than I can believe! There’s only 115 days until February 1! We have loosely set February/March as our goal to list the house for sale and I must admit that seems awfully quick! Scott is making great progress on all the finish work in the house.

Blood, Sweat & Tears 🏠

Standard

I’d like to preface this post with a disclaimer about my eye rolling humor on the subject of our house remodel. My sarcasm and eye rolling should not be confused or misunderstood as anything other than humor.(Mostly!) I jest, as I complain and bemoan the trials and tribulations of our remodeling journey,( loonnng, llllloooonnnng, journey indeed! Insert eye rolling here!). But in spite of the’ many’ painful aspects of this project, there’s really no other way I would rather have gone about the process we chose to remodel our home . Challenges, frustrations, and all, I’d do it again exactly the same way! There are many very valuable advantages of not dealing with contractors and sub-contractors . Besides…… there was no other option for us to have been able to afford such an undertaking any other way. $$$$
