Yep! He’s set his sights on making a wooden kayak! Oh! Not until AFTER our move to Panama! Don’t worry, he’s got plenty yet to accomplish here , there will be no veering into another project!😜 We had planned to try to find a second kayak to take with us to Panama just in case we find people we want to take along. So he was doing some research online and discovered a site that sells the plans for these beautiful kayaks and I imagine he had heart palpitations ! He proceeded to read all the reviews and comments from people who had purchased the plans and made their very own kayaks . According to my extreme ‘do it yourself’ guy it doesn’t look too difficult. He seems to think from what he has read that most of the people who wrote reviews about their experience building these boats were novices and that he would have no problem building his own. They really are quite beautiful and woodworking is something he is passionate about sooooooo, a custom, handmade wooden kayak we shall have! It will probably be a good idea to get in touch with our friend Al who lives in Boquete( he is a very talented wood working artisan ) to see if most of the materials required to attempt this project are easily acquired in Panama or if we should bring them in our container. This I know for certain, when Scott decides that he is going to do something, he will do it. And if you could see how excited he was to show me this discovery you would know why I said,” Go for it!”. BUT….. I will have cabinets in my house FIRST!!!! And a beautiful closet too, right girls! 😁. Closets first Wooden kayaks last!
We usually try to get up here to Lake Tahoe at least once a year. It’s just such a beautiful place! The scenery is breathtaking , the air is crisp and clean and there’s no end of possibilities for enjoying the great outdoors.
As we’ve been working so hard to ready our house to sell and to move our lives to a foreign land we have to stop and remind ourselves to remain balanced. With this in mind, we decided to pack up our trusty kayak and head to the hills! Lake Tahoe , that is!! I’ll be working tues-thurs and on Friday off we’ll go to paddle our hearts out and take in the beauty of the pine trees, the mountains and that glorious lake.
While we were enjoying the sights of 17 Mile Drive in Carmel yesterday, it made me realize that we will soon be discovering different types of beautiful scenery . So let’s soak up all our favorites and get set to say “Adios” to the beauty around us and “Hola!” to what waits to be discovered! Who knows what exciting adventures await our trusty kayak in Panama!
How’s that for a quick thought? 😁
